2013 Snake Year Fortunes for the Snake
Feb. 10, 2013 - Jan. 30, 2014: Water Snake Year
By Peter Allsop
Author's book: Year of the Snake: Chinese Astrology & Feng Shui Guide
The Chinese Zodiac's sixth Sign is the subtle, 'cool' Snake 'She' (pronounced 'Sher')? Are you 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 (and so-on in 12-year increments) between 10th February 2013 and 30th January 2014 (Snake Year's end)? Do partners, friends, relatives, parents, children or colleagues fall into this category? If the answer is 'Yes!' then this article is for you!
Babies born during this period will be officially 'Water Babies' like those Snakes born 1953-54 because of the Year Element in Water, as the Table below shows. Water-related Feng Shui, in particular, might prove auspicious for their environments at this time (1).
Years of the SNAKE:
1905 Wood; 1917 Fire; 1929 Earth; 1941 Metal; 1953 Water; 1965 Wood; 1977 Fire; 1989 Earth; 2001 Metal; 2013 Water
Famous Snakes Include:
Anne Frank, Mahatma Gandhi, Carole King, Muhammad Ali, Kim Basinger, Charles Darwin, Elizabeth I, Picasso, Tony Blair, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Conti, Randy Crawford, Bob Dylan and Edgar Allen Poe
Snakes are ambitious, intelligent, quick-witted, cool-customers who can adapt readily to a variety of changing situations. They tend to be witty and popular, with good inter-personal skills. Snakes are also generous, kind, enchanting and appealing.
Snakes, however can be vain, quick-tempered and headstrong and therefore susceptible to unnecessary troubles. They can also be mean and possessive.
Ideal Snake Careers and Occupations Include:
Science, Jewelery, Analysis, Management, Sales, Self-Employment, Business, Education, Writing.
In relationship terms, Ox, Rooster and Monkey are the Birth Signs of those they are most compatible with as partners. They are least compatible with Tigers and Pigs.
The Snake in Dragon Year 2012-13
You may find obstacles in your path this year that thwart your chances of success and hold you back in certain fields, particularly on the work front.
In terms of love and romance, however, this could prove a fortunate year indeed. Sickness or injury could occur in Spring or early Summer.
How The Snake can Turn Into a Dragon
The Shaolin Kung Fu Maxim: 'Do not despise the humble Snake, one-day he may become a strong and mighty Dragon!' deserves further explanation.
In Shaolin Kung Fu, beginners may be considered 'Snakes' and required to undertake Snake-related training to learn key skills. Lacking limbs, Snakes depend entirely on Internal Energies for motion and are thus potent symbols of Qi and Qi-training, which begins at this stage. After many years of dedicated practice, rising through the ranks, one-day the same individual might hold one of the top 'Dragon' Grades, as some Shaolin styles term their Advanced Black Sashes -- an evolutionary journey in itself. And always remember that 11 years later a Dragon will appear!
The interaction of Yin/Yang and 5 Elements/Animals Theories is a useful area of study for those wishing to deepen their knowledge of this subject. Dragon Year (2012-13) represents an ideal opportunity to get underway!
